Trecento plus Orient times avant-garde

"Sometimes the exotic is not only geographically distant, but also temporally distant, and so the combination of old European and new non-European music suddenly seems quite natural. At least when it is performed by such a precise and inspired ensemble as Syn.de."

Ensemble sYn.de

With this reasoning, the Hesse jury pushed the quartet into the final of the national competition »creole – global music from Germany« 2009 in Berlin.

At sYn.de, Italian Trecento music with its density merges with the confusingly crooked meters of a Horo, meets imaginary Balkan melodies and Indian syllabary, is enriched with a pinch of playful baroque ornamentation, with avant-garde stick-beating in between. The brilliant mixture is rounded off by ancient Egyptian finger games on Scandinavian strings to the South German square flute – sYnergetic sound conglomerate or a synde?
