Artemandoline
Ostinato basses, bass motifs that repeat frequently, are standards of the 17th century musical repertoire. They require an inspired and creative style of playing from the performers, allowing them to demonstrate their virtuosity while competing imaginatively.
Recorder and mandolins compete over a basso ostinato, which is played in a very varied way by mandola, baroque guitar, viola da gamba and harpsichord.
Passionate impulses from Italian music can be found in “Alla Ciaccona”, sweet melodies alternate with brilliant rhythmic passages. This gives an insight into the 17th century, which discovered passion in all arts, including music.
This program features the unusual line-up: Juan Carlos Muñoz, baroque mandolin; Meike Herzig, recorders; Mari Fe Pavón, baroque mandolin; Alla Tolkacheva, mandola & mandolone; Manuel Muñoz, baroque guitar; Jean-Daniel Haro, viola da gamba & violone; Jean-Christophe Leclère, harpsichord.
